OK, I'm impressed
(i) They introduced a young woman who was profoundly autistic, much further out than Gary Bell, one of their central characters. She was found in a back room of a house that an alpha terrorist organization was using as a base. She was unable to speak, but could understand any language. Eventually she was able to communicate with Gary with the help of some computer technology. Of course the regular cast were looking for ways to help her. But the big reveal of the plot was that she was not a prisoner of the terrorists, or even a tool they had been using; she was their master planner and the author of their messages!
(ii) A bit later in the episode, she concluded that Gary wasn't going to come over to her side, or keep her secret, so she attacked him—by sending out a message calling for a denial of service attack! Huge numbers of electronic messages came to her wi-fi network, and Gary, who can perceive electronic signals directly, was overwhelmed and lost consciousness.
I don't know how good the rest of the season will be, but that episode was a lot smarter than I'm used to from television. If I'd pulled those two bits off in an rpg I'd be totally gloating about it.
