can't you hear the thunder?

Since we moved to Lawrence, the weather apps on our phones have told us several times of possible thunderstorms. Today the weather came through. About 10 AM, as I was taking out recyclables, I glimpsed the sky lighting up above our building. I came inside, turned off our electronics, turned off our power strips, and unplugged them. Then for the next two hours C and I saw the sky lighting up repeatedly—every couple of minutes, at the high point—and occasionally glimpsed an actual visible flash. The thunder was distant and not loud, but I think it would have been exciting if it had come closer.

By 12:30, it was all over.
